In 2012, Park Jimin became the first winner of the South Korean reality TV competition, "Survival K-Pop Star". After winning, she was awarded with the opportunity of signing with YG Entertainment, SM Entertainment or JYP Entertainment. On May 21, it was reported by SBS that she had chosen to sign with JYP Entertainment.

When Baek Yerin was ten years old, she appeared on Star King, where she was introduced as being a “genius in R&B.” In 2008, she auditioned for JYP with Beyoncé’s "Listen" and was accepted as a trainee the same time as 2PM's Wooyoung and Beast's Doojoon. Yerin had been a JYP trainee for over four years before finally debuting with Jimin for 15.


On October 5th, 15& released their first digital single "I Dream" and the music video on Youtube. On October 7th, they debuted with "I Dream" on Inkigayo.

On the afternoon of October 12th, 15& held their ‘school attack’ guerrilla concerts. The girls made their first stop at the Chungdam Middle School, followed by Eonnam Middle School at 3PM, Sungil Information High School at 5PM, and Dankook University at 8:40PM. For a total of eight hours, 15& held a surprise concert at each school, performed their debut song “I Dream“, their cover of Alicia Keys and Beyonce‘s “Put It In a Love Song“, and even SISTAR‘s “Ma Boy“. The concerts were hosted by KT‘s digital music application, and ‘Genie‘. The event attracted a total of 5,000 in attendance. Not only the students who attended the schools were there, but also the citizens living nearby who heard news of the free concert.
